Rauma Winter Blues - ordered and delivered

The first Rauma Winter Blues was a success. A good number of citizens of Rauma, tortured by the lack of wintry blues, arrived at the hotel Raumanlinna along with bluesfanatics from other towns who had also discovered the first time ever event. The happening, drawing a crowd of about 700, was thanked for its versatile programme and good price vs. quality ratio. The three-floor-system was also praised since it allowed non stop live blues music all through the 7-hour-long event. Each artist and performing group filled their spot on the stage one hundred percent and each group found its active fans. The most loved performers of the evening were Honey B & T-Bones who put up a fantastic groove on the stage, Erja Lyytinen who presented her new rocking groove and the country & folk styled Ninni Poijärvi Trio and Jussi Syren & The Groundbreakers who proved that "hay hat music" can find success in the blues circles, too. The positive feedback received by country music performers might encourage the organizers of Rauma Blues to bring more country into the blues events of the future.

The only negative comments about the event were directed towards Roscoe Chenier, the festival's only foreign artist, who pretty much divided the audience into two. The most critical fanatics think that the Louisianan was too much of an averige blues joe, while the fans of more traditional blues praise the sympatic gentleman as the climax of the event. Either way, Roscoe Chenier filled his spot as the only traditional bluesman of the event.

In addition to excellent musicians we must also thank and praise the sound reproduction team, lead by Markku Pekonen, who produced the main stage of Raumanlinna such sounds that were thanked not only by the audience but the musicians as well. Rauma Blues ry wishes to also thank all the instances that gave their neighbourly help in the blues event and the audience that was present; You made our event a unique spectacle.
