Rauma Blues 2005
The 20th Anniversary programme of Rauma Blues was built on living legends
James
Cotton Band featuring Hubert Sumlin and Magic Slim & The Teardrops
fulfilled all expectations and served chicago blues lovers with
experiences that are hardly ever heard on our stages. The blues ballad,
interpreted by James Cotton with his throat cancer battered voice, was
one of the most touching moments of Finnish blues history. Honey B
& The T-Bones, the most loved band in the history of Rauma Blues
were also welcomed with their rooty set and all the harp freaks will be
getting nightly orgasms all through the winter remembering Rod Piazza's
set.
The only conflicting set on the main stage was C.C. Adcock
whose swamp rock rattle (with lent gear) wasn't quite understood by the
puritanists. In spite of that, for example Pertti Nurmi of the Blues
News magazine described Rauma Blues as the best festival ensemble that
Finland has ever experienced. In addition to the main concert there
were also club events at Kalliohovi and Buena Vista which were so well
accepted by the audience that the clubbing tradition will continue in
the future years as well.
