Rauma Blues 2000
To celebrate the new millennium, Rauma Blues moved out of the tent and into an ice hockey training stadium
The
new concert venue's acoustics were excellent and the lounge area was
bigger than before. The performers of 2000 were all of high standard
and the critics appreciated the versatility of the programme; in
addition to the Mississippi John Hurt influences characteristic to 60's
Greenwich Village country blues it also included plenty of romping Fat
Possum thumping and Doctor Feelgood derivative clatter blues.
The
queen of the evening was Maria Muldaur, whose set included the whole
spectrum of the blues from acoustic country blues to New Orleans
rhythms and club blues atmosphere. Muldaur's and John Sebastians
acoustic duo interpretation of Memphis Minnie's Richland Woman Blues
made the spines ruffle.
