Little Freddie King

Born in McComb, Mississippi, in 1940, Fread E. Martin learned how to play guitar from his father. He moved to New Orleans in the beginning of 1950s and got to know Poka Dot Slim and Boogie Bill Webb, among other South-Louisianan blues dudes, sucking plenty of influences into his own music. He gigged and jammed often in the New Orleans' joints and made it to the same stage with Bo Diddley and John Lee Hooker. He also got to play backgrounds as a basist for Freddie King, a Texan, and found his artist name there.

His first official album Little Freddie recorded in 1971 for a New Orleans based Ahura Mazda Records, but it wasn't noted well outside New orleans. After a quarter of a century's break, his following albums Swamp Boogie and Sing Sang Sung were released by Orleans Records and presented an artist who had found his own style, reminding of Lightning Hopkins' classics.

In 2005 Little Freddie broke the ice worldwide with his You Don't Know What I Know album by Fat Possum.
